Join us for an engaging session focused on practical ways parents and teachers can support children’s literacy development. We’ll explore the importance of reading levels (Lexiles), how to match books to children’s interests, and the incredible benefits of reading aloud together. This session will include meaningful discussions, simple strategies, and valuable resources to strengthen the connection between home and school in fostering a love for reading.

A fun, hands-on banner-making activity! Parents, students, and community members will come together to design a vibrant banner that showcases the many reasons we love reading. Whether it’s exploring new worlds, learning something new, or just the joy of a good story—everyone’s voice matters. Let’s celebrate the power of reading and creativity as a community!
Are you smarter than a 5th grader?? Check your knowlege of facts on questions drawn from elementary school concepts. Patrons will compete for the top spots and win awesome prizes while munching on a small bag of popcorn. Question will include the following subjects: language arts, literature, social studies, science and math.
Hair is a beautiful expression of one's individuality. It is an expression of one's identity, culture, and individuality. celebrating the diversity of hair is important in building a culture that promotes self- acceptance, self-empowerment and self-love. This session will begin with an uplifting reading/ video Hair Love, after which attendees will unleash their creativity in a friendly competition to style mannequin hair in unique, expressive styles.

We will explore key elements of Georgia's Early Literacy Act (HB 538), the Dyslexia Law (SB 48), and the newly updated Georgia English Language Arts (ELA) standards. This session will provide parents and teachers with a clear understanding of how these policies impact children’s education, and what resources are available to support literacy development.
